As a medication use quality researcher, PQA is engaged in a variety of projects and initiatives related to Medication Adherence & Safety, Medication Access & Social Determinants of Health, Patient Engagement, and Pharmacy Services. PQA has more than a dozen active research projects.

Medication Adherence & Safety

Relationships between medication adherence, patient costs, and economic outcomes

Methodology: Secondary Data Analysis

Collaborators: Merck, University of Mississippi

Description: This retrospective cohort study aims to describe the relationships of patient out-of-pocket costs on medication adherence and subsequent economic outcomes, describe the interplay of medication adherence quality measures and economic outcomes, and identify proportion of days covered (PDC) levels where outcomes are optimized.

Reducing opioid overprescribing for common surgical procedures

Methodology: Program Implementation & Evaluation

Collaborators: Johns Hopkins University

Description: This prospective, Improving Wisely interventional study will evaluate the impact of an individual, provider-level peer-to-peer benchmarked opioid prescribing report intervention on opioid prescribing for common surgical procedures.
