PQA expanded our program offerings in September 2021 to include a new, 3-hour course on Measuring Quality to Improve HIV Medication Use, to help healthcare professionals implement effective quality improvement programs for HIV medication use. This activity was supported by an independent medical education grant from Merck & Co.

This CE course provides advanced training on HIV-related measurement and strategies to improve medication safety, adherence and appropriate use. It was specially designed to provide participants with practical tools and experiences to begin improving the quality of HIV care upon completion of the program.

The HIV course curriculum includes: 

Core Curriculum
3 hours of advanced training with an emphasis on real-world examples and best practices

  • Population Health with HIV
  • Pharmacotherapy HIV treatment and prevention
  • HIV Quality Measures
  • Gaps in HIV Quality Measures 

Course Topic Areas: 

  • HIV population and public health perspectives
  • Current core HIV treatments and medication therapy
  • Current quality measures for evaluating HIV medication use
  • Future opportunities for medication use measurement in HIV prevention
  • Patient care-based practice activities 

 

This HIV course is designed and nationally accredited for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses and physicians and is applicable for all levels of health care professions no matter their experience level working with persons living with HIV. It was designed to be taken as an independent course or as part of the Medication Use Quality Certificate  as an elective course.

It can be taken as an independent course for $45 for members, $75 for non-membersand $40 for those who have completed another elective from the certificate program.
