Five For Friday November 18: Celebrating Success in Advancing Medication Use Quality

PQA will host an all-member webinar on Thursday, December 1, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET, to discuss the measures up for endorsement and retirement consideration.

PQA staff will review and respond to themes from the recent public comment period and address questions. This member-only webinar will precede the member voting period, December 1-16, on one new measure for endorsement consideration and four existing measures for retirement consideration. Learn more below.

We also highlight our members' insights on value-based care, access for diabetic patients and pharmacy performance measures. If you have news you'd like for us to spotlight in an upcoming Five For Friday, send us an email!

Enhancing Kidney Care with Value-Based Care Agreement

Humana announced a new value-based care agreement for most Humana Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plan members in four states who live with chronic kidney disease. The members can now access specialized resources, which include in-home primary and specialty care visits, medication management, dialysis and transplant coordination, palliative care, and social services. This agreement is designed to help improve quality of life for the members who have chronic kidney disease in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana

Improving Access for Diabetic Patients
Today, more than 130 million adults in the United States are dealing with the health consequences of living with prediabetes and diabetes. PurpleLab participated in PQA's process to develop a composite measure for medication adherence for diabetes and related diseases such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia. This kind of measure provides important insights into medication access for patients with diabetes, which has real-world value for both patients and healthcare payers

Committing to Pharmacy Performance Measures
Kroger Health has made a $100,000 donation to the Pharmacy Quality Alliance to assist in the development of standard pharmacy performance measures. Kroger Health is working with PQA to implement pharmacist-led, value-based chronic condition management programs to test diabetes and blood pressure measure concepts. This support will assist in the facilitation of broad scale testing of developed concepts and expands information technology infrastructure, and disseminates findings to support scale, spread, and sustainability of innovative pharmacy services
